The people behind UNDESIGNED

Here's what the article is about

Culture, RAW, Insights

Who are you?
Good question. My name is Davide in any case (but doesn't rhyme with "rapide").
„Normal guy who somehow became a developer but still appreciates good design and clever animations. “

Davide (self quote lol)

What are your hobbies?
The focus is on: Programming, Guitar, Urbexing & Gaming.
What music do you listen to?
Here are a few artists at random: Skinshape, Greydon Square, Chill Bump, RHCP, Funkadelic, B.B. King, etc.
Your favorite drink?
Green tea (sencha, matcha, mate, etc.) and tap water.
What is your role at UNDESIGNED?
Developer, hand model and the other with the C-word. I am responsible for everything technical and digital. From development to maintenance of the websites & servers. Beginner bookkeeping has to be done as well.
What are your favorite tools?
Visual Studio Code, Docker, Spotify, WSL2.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I get up around 8/9 a.m., get ready and drive to Landau, if I'm not doing home office. Most of the time, when there are no major meetings, I stay in Karlsruhe. Unfortunately, I haven't found an apartment in Landau yet. So if you know someone who knows someone, feel free to let me know! :D

Arrived at the office, I first make some tea. The agony of choice: Sencha or Mate (because variety is a must). Until lunch break we work on customer projects. If we have discovered a critical bug on our website or that of a customer, it is of course fixed first. At noon we usually go out for lunch and discuss current projects.

After lunch we continue to work on customer projects until the evening and then I also take care of internal things: server updates, website security checks, development of internal tools & testing of new technologies. Accounting and business is usually something I try to squeeze in between.
What are you currently working on?
A never-ending project will always remain our own website. Here we are always optimizing SEO, writing articles or expanding the functionality. Along the way, I'm continuing to build out our infrastructure and automation, and I'm still working on a static site builder that meets our needs.

We are in the final stages of a new product that will appeal to photographers on a limited budget. We want to give you the option of a high quality visual look including portfolio website.
What's your favourite part of a project?
The development of motion concepts and their implementation. Also finding the best way to automate the website creation process without losing the quality and flexibility through tools like Webflow, Squarespace, etc.
What do you enjoy the least?
To be honest, all the business stuff. Even though I appreciate the freedom of having my own studio, the organizational stuff is really exhausting.
ARE THERE ANY CUSTOMERS YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO WORK WITH?
There is no one in particular, but I would be interested in smaller restaurants, cafes and artists who value animation and quality and don't settle for cheap template solutions.
